Aww Rhonda...I want to give you a BIG WELCOME to here but hate the first posts you have concerns you having trouble!!! So sorry! I hear it is kinda hard to find a vet that knows chickens...maybe one that works with exotic birds? There are a lot of experienced people here that has had chickens for a long time and are all very helpful! Maybe if you tell us what is going on we may can offer some helpful advice?

Weird. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong name or they changed it. It used to come in white paper bags with a cheap label and was definitely sulfur - cleaned up a few broken bags. Now it seems to be a fancy plastic resealable bag. Of course its been a few years since I was in college & worked at Home Depot. Seems like products that really work always get reformulated into stuff that marginally works.

Both sulfur and moth balls work. anything to disrupt the sense of smell and mess with the taste buds they use to sniff with.

At around noon today, there was a huge red-colored coyote trotting across our pasture to the pond!

I thought about letting Kota out after it, but although I know he's more than capable of handling a coyote, I didn't want him to get injured, I love him too much lol. By the time we grabbed the gun and ran out, he'd slunk back into the woods. No doubt he/she was after the ducks, since we moved them out of the chicken pen. I'll have to listen out for any commotion tonight.

I had never seen a coyote in our neck of the woods until yesterday. DD and I saw one a mile from our farm at the end of our street. I have seen and heard plenty of foxes but coyotes have made themselves scarce around here where I can see them.

We see/hear coyotes at our place all the time, as well as foxes, raccoons, and even a few bobcats. So far we haven't had any problems with the coyotes and bobcats, but plenty with raccoons and foxes.

And welcome to our SC thread!

Wish you weren't so far away, I have a pretty flock of jumbo Pekins that lay really well and I am hatching off some ducklings now.
Here is yesterday mornings hatcher contents. Well, part of it. The other side is bantam and LF chicks. The ducklings are Pekin, Cayuga and there is a Pearl Guinea keet. This hatcher runs 24/7-365. It only stops for about a half hour every two weeks for cleaning. Come October it will have been running 3 years.
Well theres those big hatcheries that can overnight ducks to you. You're a lot closer so it probably wouldn't cost very much. Is that a possibility at all? How far away are you anyways? Maybe I could just make the drive.
