Oh RockerHen--I had a BlueJG that just hated me...I did all that I could to keep him. Shamed Him, Fed Treats to him by hand...Kicked him, Held him down...I tried everything for a year, but it just got worse. To the point I was fighting him with a rake(like a jedi) and he almost won, he got me a few times. So after a long battle I found someone who had a large farm. I think he is ok...I don't ask. SO good luck and at some point if he doesn't get better start trying to find him a home. Cause I have a new roo that is super nice to me...GoodLuck!

I had a barred rock rooster like that. Just absolutely nasty. We gave him to someone who made chicken dinner out of him lol. But our rooster now isn't really as outright aggressive, he's a bit of a coward as he'll only attack if you turn around and walk away and if you rush him he high-tails it. I think he'll be able to be tamed down.

Lei Rob- blew the horn at you on Saturday. Took some friends to eat BBQ. It was closed. Looks like they are adding on. Ate at andy's instead. Saw the " great wall of buffalo" aka the start of your loooong coop.
Had a nice visit w/ rockerhen. Rocker hens dad was making fun of the silkie doos while sporting a similar hair style himself. Had to call him out on that one. Lol
Rocker, they love spaghetti (sauce and noodles) too.
Not quite ready to christen the new coop, but soooo close. Is it crazy tovwant to bathe wveryone b4 they go n the new coop? Posted pics on my fb page.

I'm glad someone besides me finally called him on it

he always teases me about the chickens, and I'll tease him about his hair. And I'll have to feed them some if they love it. you've made a lot of progress on the coop since I came! I'll probably make my silkies their own cute coop soon. Ironically, it'll probably be my dad doing most of the work on it

Love your run/trellis combo! Are you able to harvest gourds from this vine or do the chickens get them through the mesh? And is your yard fenced beyond this enclosure?
Harvest Gourds: This is the first year, but if the gourds grow they will grow from the top and hang down and that's about 5.5 feet from the ground. So I don't think they can get them. Fingers Crossed.
Yard Fenced In: Yes I have a chain link fence surrounding my property. My Large flock free range during the day. The neighbor hood dogs would most likey(they Would) kill all my chickens. I also have two dogs that protect the yard the chickens are in to help keep all predators at bay.

OH and THANKS for the compliment!!! Oh and if you like the chickens in the Run (MFd'Uccles) I have babies!!! That need homes!!! ;-)

Here is a tip for you. I do not use electrolytes everyday. you can over medicate them on it. but when you clean out your warerers and rinse them with Clorox. leave a tad of Clorox and do not rinse it clean. your waterers will stay fresh and clean for days. ( do not do that every day either. ) and I'll dig out my cable for my camera when I get caught up on the gossip.

I love to see photos of coops!
I used to go to the building section here on BYC all the time but had to stop myself when I kept adding more to the farm. It takes me forever to feed, clean, water, clean, collect eggs, clean and check on maintaining pens and birds. Oh and did I mention cleaning? I know when people visit it looks like I seldom do much of anything as it always seems dirty and disorganized (okay, that much is true) but I really do clean an awful lot. Every waterer gets cleaned every day but when you add vitamins and electrolytes back into well water it has a tendency to turn green in a few hours and look nasty. And all this rain is making all the feeders grow mold so i am constantly cleaning those but 2 days later there is mold again. It drives me nuts as I swim through this moist air to do chores.

Hurry up with coop photos

and you did not turn into the driveway?? my feelings are hurt now.

I seriously doubt you can come up with too many good foods that the chickens will not love. My cat already knows " if momma puts something outside. do not attempt to eat it. even if it is fish or steak. if she puts it in the pen it's for the birds. if she puts it in the yard or on the porch. " tv chick " will get that "
( tv chick being a barred rock rooster my GF took a liking too and I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of )

well I was going to upload a photo or two of the one wall of the coop ( current progress. but it seems BYC is not letting me. nor do I have permission to add it as an attachment either. . BYC must be mad at me. oh well, maybe another day. or maybe they are going to run me off. since I am not happy with BYC at the moment I think it is best I go do other things. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

I'd love to have more babies, but I still haven't built a coop for the 28 I have now! They're two weeks old, so I figure I have 2-3 more weeks before I'm in serious trouble. I was thinking about growing some kind of edible vine across the side of the run because the only place I can put the coop & run is against the south-west side of the house and it will get the full afternoon sun. If I can harvest from it, that would just be a bonus!
