Quick question BYC members.
So summer is upon us. It's been in the 90s this wk with 100% humidity. I've been noticing afew of my chickens walking around with there mouths open. I figure that they are trying to cool off. Is that true or is it another reason they are doing that.

Thankx

Chickens really suffer (and die!) in heat. They need shade, breezes or fans, cool water, and icy treats all day. You can put ice in the waterers, freeze fruits, give watermelon, and cantilope, anything to help. My coo[p is insulated and shaded, and I put a fan inside to cool it in summer, and there's lots of shade nearby. Mary

They got good shade an I know if I'm hot they're even hotter......is that why they are walking around with there beaks half open cause they hot trying to cool off?
