For us chicken people, I think it will always be difficult to let go of our babies... but when we know they're going to such good homes, and when those awesome new owners post updates for us like they have here, it makes it so much easier. I'm tickled that my pullets have settled in so well with everyone... you guys are awesome chicken parents!

Morning Aila,

Yep, Lacy is settled down and thinks she is a big Serama, I am working on getting her homed in with a couple of Naked Neck Hens who are seethearts (Hedwig & Hilda).
I just need to remove that N/N Roo, he can be a bit exhuberant and somone wants him for breeding, so away he goes!! I can always "borrow" him back if I need to.
(WHY would I need that?! Got enough chickens now!!)

I will get some pix for you when I get settled down from some final duties at Camp.

On the subject of re-homed chickens~~~~ I rescued a gamey-mutt hen 3-4 months ago. She lived her entire life [of one year] in a small cage and was terrified of other chickens-she just wanted to hang with people.

I found her a home with an young autistic boy in Sherman Oaks [BYCer of course]. I just got an update on her this AM that I wanted to share with you all:

"She is doing great [Baylene]! Sometimes I think my son thinks she is a purse. He carries her around, they watch TV together. I found her just hanging out on a chair in the house yesterday. She taps the back glass door like she wants to come in. She really thinks she is a house chicken."

YES WITHOUT A DOUBT~~~~ BYCers are the best!

Serama Beauty (This little girl was Cara's, and just the sweetest, prettiest thing I've seen!)
