you really need to go to kate's house... she's so friendly, and it will be great to see her this weekend... all of her birds are gorgeous...

That's what I'm afraid of!!!

Hey, I sold all my Buff Orp, and Barred Rock chicks today. Hubby is less mad at me now.

That means I have nothing to bring for sale on Saturday, but that's okay. I didn't get any PMs about interest in those chicks. They were ADORABLE, BIG, HEALTHY and SWEET

! If you like good layers, you MISSED OUT!!

On another note, my new coop is almost finished!! I'm refurbishing an old 8'x10' gazebo that we don't use, and turning it into a coop/ small run for my layers. I let them free range when someone is home, which is 5 days a week, but they needed a cooler spot to reside in when we're gone. Those big fluffy birds just don't take the heat well. Their current coop is adorable, but in too hot a spot. I think I'll move that old coop under my cherry tree (if my DH brings home a pallet jack) and put some banties in there. It would be perfect for some little chickens.... I have 3 pairs right now.. 2- OEGB, and 1 Serama pair. I just hesitate to put roos together, because I don't want them to hurt each other, or damage their feathers, as they are all my best birds, and the ones I will potentially be showing. I'll have to talk to all of you that show, about how you manage your hens and roos.

OCSeramas, I'm really excited to see your birds, the ones for sale, and the ones not for sale too...

omigosh! near Minden/Gardnerville??? are you at Topaz? We lived in Walker (CA) just south of Coleville on 395 for awhile - across from the General Store! Small world!!!

Well if you have the entire week-end free, drive down to Ridgecrest (123 miles South of Death Valey) stay over in my sprare/guest multi purpose room, ride down with me. From my house, I estamate three hours from Ridgecrest to Norco and that is conservative since I need to stop in Lancaster to pick up a bird to bring to the meet. Like I said, for your distance you need a large amount of time and to think adventure.

LOVE your av pic... yes, very familiar. Used to sit out on the post 'n rail fence during thunderstorms facing mtns like those.... so gorgeous! Then we'd get that random lightning strike starting a sagebrush fire and it would take out the whole side of a mtn.

If you think of it, ask if anyone remembers Buckskin Campground in Walker.

FIL & MIL owned it and we (DH & I) helped them run it from '75 to '80. Good people, good fishing, good times!

Now we're stuck in the land of concrete and cars.... uuuugh! But, at least here in Norco it's about as farm/ranch as can be for having city all around us. haha! So glad to have found BYC and these folks.

anyone into pigeons...? i have two males that paired up that i need to rehome... they really ♥ eachother, but they're taking up room, i have them in a small dove pen, and i need the room for doves... LOL...

well, here's a pic... i'm asking 10 each or both for 15... LOL... since they are paired and ♥ eachother so much... they're hilarious... but sadly, i have to give them up... i they got kicked out when my egyptian swifts started laying eggs and took over the nest box...
