MayberrySaint, you said a mouth full, listen to him. I've seen other post wanting to know your secrets. They are under cover agents of the FBI.

Sole Proprietorship. My mom is/was an accountant. She'll probably be doing my taxes...I hope.

I have Quickbooks I've just never had a second to set it up. I guess I'll do that in the next 2 weeks too.

I don't think too many people would get in a lather over you raising your prices. If other people are selling their soap at higher prices then you should be able to do so as well.
Just make sure you know your market. I can't stress that enough.
Take it from someone who has been in sales for years. Buyers can be very fickle.
There is a fine ( bottom) line between buyers that don't mind paying for quality and those that just want a bargain.
Just don't end up like Lucy and Ethel did; selling salad dressing that they were losing money on every bottle they sold.
I know you are basically a one woman company but you might need to recruit some help. Especially with the office end of the biz.

Yeah you need to work out everything before you set your prices - I did that when I was sewing to sell baby things, and was shocked at how little I was actually making for all the time and effort it was taking - I shut down pretty fast after that and got by butt back into an office job.
Its very hard to compete with the imports from CHINA etc... (I now look more closely at what I buy and where its made, trying to avoid certain places)

Another option would be to sell different size soaps - smaller bars for those folks not too sure or who want to try something out first before they buy a bigger size - or perhaps a little variety package!

Yeah that's another thing I was planning on doing. Like lil sample sized bars in a pack.

My #1 ingredient is Palm oil and I'm waiting on the UPS guy to bring it. This weekend I'm going to be making it all day every day!!!

So do we need to wait until the 21st to place an order? The story of my life a day late and a dollar short.
monty

I'm really sorry.

I am soooooo glad that you are only temp. closing. I've been wanting to order, but things have been so crazy here at home. I'm working so hard to get my chickens settled, keep up with my daughter's schedule and had house guest over the weekend that left on Mon and now my husband's uncle is town. Oh yea, my daughter's B-day was yest. Busy, busy, busy. Sorry, I'm rambling!

Anyway! Hope the UPS man, Loyd comes soon, so you can get back to soaping. I'm really looking forward to ordering the Lavender and Goat's milk.

So we should just go to your site on Sept 21st to order?

Thanks........I'm new to the forum,
Kim
