Southern Essence is closed ****UNTIL SEPT 21st****

I would have to agree with bubba, but make sure you put in something about it being the shipping companies fault, remember if all else fails blame it on someone else. If the shipper cant get you product what more can you do but wait till it arrives.

Ok Bubba. In a couple of minutes my site will be back up so people can see my products but I took off the Add To Cart buttons and added a note on the online store page. I hope you don't mind I used some of what you said in your post. Thanks!!!

DH is making me MORE molds tomorrow and I plan on making 300 bars a day!!!

i will still buy it. Hey trisha , do you have a milk and honey bar? erinM

I'll add that to my list of new soaps to make. Thanks!!!

I agree. If I was someone just running across your site and saw it was closed, chances are I won't be back. If you just leave it all up and on your order page put info on when you are accepting orders, I would be more apt to savings a cart in my bookmarks and going back. Good luck, best get busy when that shipment arrives!

Glad I could help Trisha!

Bubba

PS Edit... Change how much the new bars will cost on your site to. Its still at 3.50. I would just put it up to 4 dollars or whatever high amount you are thinking, you can always lower it later.

YAYYYYYYYYYY! I still bookmark the site anyway....still wanted those honeysuckle and cucumber melon soaps. Patience is the key and it would be worth my time as well as Trisha's time making the orders.

Yay to hubby...at least he can make some more molds!

Hey Trisha - Do NOT close your site. If necessary, hire someone to help you get your orders ready and to get ready for Christmas or pull all nighters and enlist family and friends to help. You will kill your business if you close your site, even temporarily closing can destroy future sales and prevent customers from returning. Raise your prices and if necessary, put something like: "Due to high demand, please wait 2 weeks for your order". Girl, you've spent too much time and money to get those orders coming in and to get your website and company name going. As a small business owner of three businesses, including a business that helps others get started in business, I'm giving you the best advice I have: Don't close your site, even temporarily. Just put something on it about how in demand your products are and "temporarily" will take 2 weeks to deliver.

Now go get those family and friends to help you. Stay off this forum and use that time to get your business going.

Congrats on the General Store sales.

Hey Trish, did Lloyd show up with the goodies for soaping? WOW!
300 bars! Sounds like you are going to be busy. How long will it take you to make that many? That's really amazing. Can't wait to try this good stuff. I'm almost out of some homemade soap that my hubby bought me from a local place for x-mas.

I just wanted to add Trish. Don't hurt yourself. I am sure you know working with lye is dangerous. Take it slow and steady (Remember the turtle wins!) I know everyone here would feel horrible if you were hurt and feel a part of it was their fault trying to get you to speed up production. Be careful on hiring help to that can lead to its own problems. I think you are doing things right as they are now, its better to have a huge demand and a low supply then the opposite!

Lloyd came today and now I need to place yet another order for the newest soaps everyone suggested.

300 bars will be 60 pounds of soap...that'll take a good 9 hours.

I usually get a good lil lye burn EVERY time I make soap. I don't want to have anyone help me because I've developed my own way of cooking it and I don't trust anyone else to do it right. That and I can't pay for someones hospital bills if they get hurt. Soap making is a very serious thing. It sounds all fun and easy but it is a science and is VERY dangerous. Lye HURTS!!!

I hear you and I know it's going to hurt business but right now orders will be 4 weeks before they can ship. Soap takes 4 weeks to cure.

I put on my site that if anyone wants me to email them when the site is back up then I'll do it but I do have to close it down for 2 weeks.

When I first put my site up it took 2 months before I got my first order. Now (thank goodness) business is booming but I don't have the supply and I can't have any help for safety reasons.
