Southern States brand feed

Your welcome everyone does it their own way. They will eat either pellets or crumbles. I dont use the crumbles for any of my birds(other then the quail for obvious reasons) because i think you waste more food then needed and its alot cleaner. The crumbles are so dusty. Lol

Yes, a LOT of waste. At least with the pellets they can scour for them later too.... I was thinking of getting some quail, why can't they have the pellets? I don't know anything about them other than they have good eggs. I'm still looking for info :)

No worries, quail are very small and stay small. The crumbles are the perfect size for them. Most foods that are the % of protein they need ( chicks 30% adults no less the 24%) are found in crumble. I cant say for certain because i done know 100% but i dont think they make a pellet for them, amd i dont think they could eat it very well. But dont quote me on that one... im sure somewhere someome gives them pellets and it may work good... idk. Lol

I agree.

Southern States brand chicken feed is very cheap and very dusty. I use Purina flock layer crumbles when I can. I also add in scratch to stretch it further and add variety. I love the crumble because all can eat it and if I want to do a fermented feed batch or hot mash it breaks down faster.

I'm actually loving their pellets and so are my girls (and guys). They don't appear to be dusty at all, and even my younger birds are eating it too .... They're gobbling it up like hot cakes. :)

Shoot every bag of southern states 20% specialty flock booster pellet feed I've used for the past 6months has been the cleanest feed I've ever fed theirs a reason I switched and won't use anything else for my gamefowl if and when it ever gets that way I'll holler.

Do you like that over the Putin’s flock raiser?
