I'm thinking about using my already-built chicken tractor for colored rangers from JM Hatchery and wonder about how many birds I can fit? The chicken tractor is 4x6 on the ground level, and 2x6 up on the second floor.

I'm expecting to raise the chicks to around 10-11 weeks before butchering.
Thanks for any advice!

Not sure what your tractor looks like but, heavy meatbirds really aren't made for off the ground levels. You may be able to use the bottom section for maybe 10 X's.Not sure about Rangers,I don't raise them. But I think they do better with room to range. Will

They can't range due to predators - they will be in a community garden plot along a river. There is a ladder up to the sleeping quarters - it is not a fly-up - from what I understand of the rangers, this should be ok.

The rangers will get up there but only for the first few weeks as when they get closer to butcher weight they don't want to climb anything.

Cornish x... not a chance lol, i'm sure your aware of that.

This pen seems like a good one for layers but I'm not sure it will work for the meat chickens as they like to stay were the grass is and like to sleep on the ground. Layers seem to be the ones that exlore a little more and usually seek the highest place to roost.

But I wouldn't but more than 12-15 in an area of this size...

Hope that helps a bit.
