what does the 'BYC friend' mean?

It's a badge a member gets if they are nominated for it.
It basically means that the member is fun and friendly.

It's not quite that easy.
A staff member goes over the list of everyone nominated. After they go through her approval the remaining list goes before a committee.
The committee narrows it down even further and then those making that cut gets the badge.
