This chick hatched 12 hours ago. I'm not sure what is wrong with it's legs. Any help would be appreciated. Already hobbled it with a bandaid and currently have it in a sling. Not sure if I should splint it also or put it out of it's misery. It's legs are shaking in pain in the sling 😞 IMG_20220207_202856850.jpg IMG_20220207_202916544.jpg IMG_20220207_212913009.jpg IMG_20220207_202737339.jpg IMG_20220207_202751581.jpg

You may be able to hobble it like it does have splayed legs though. It may help keep it's feet under it.

Little one still can't walk. How long is it possible for it to have walking issues and survive? I've given a little nutridrench last night and dipped it's beak in water this morning. I'm going to give some b2 this afternoon. Other than the not being able to walk, it can jump, chirps like crazy when it's last hatchmate chirps. I am going to move her into her own little box later today, but not sure how she will regulate temperature if she can't walk 😞 IMG_20220208_080948646.jpg

This is abit unusual.

I'm now wondering if it may be a neurological issue with brain, to leg communication. I had one like this once. Only lived a week, since it was unable to get around properly, it died in the chick chair I had it in.

Maybe adding some extra vitamin E will help with the issue.

Can you get Poultry Cell or human vitamin B complex tablets? Those have the B2 riboflavin, while Poultry NutriDrench does not. B complex can be crushed in a spoonful water and fed. I would let the chick try to walk some, and try the cup, padded to support it upright. Some chicks may have slipped tendons or leg bone deformities. Being so young, the vitamins may help.

I have human b2 in high dose 400mg tabs. I do have poultry cell as well in my big bird first aid kit. I have her in a cup right now and have someone local meeting me to see if a proper hobble will help. I will let her try and walk around again today.
