Speaking of gifts, MEN should check this out ;-)

Rosalind, I won't go so far as to speak for all women, but I think what most women want is for a man to pay enough attention, to study her enough, to know what his individual wife/girlfriend would like. To me that's the whole thing about gift-giving. I often see things throughout the year and think, Oh, my mother would love that or my sister would love that.

That said, I was absolutely thrilled 15 years ago when my DH gave me a Kitchenaid mixer. I am rather practical, but it doesn't mean I never want a nice "impractical" gift that shows my DH pays attention. BTW, he usually doesn't pick up on details, and it may just be a man thing -- not every man, mind you -- just not catching details that seem like blatant, obvious hints to me;-).

It was very funny but completely inapplicable to me.

I think jewelry and flowers (unless they are planted) are a huge waste of money.

My hubby got me a Bissel carpet cleaner for Christmas a few years ago... it was one of the best gifts I've ever gotten.

He gave me a toolbox one year with my own tools. I loved it!

I'm so weird.

I'm with Stumpy... right on. I married the best man!

I just sent this via e-mail to many of my friends.

That said, my wonderful sweet wife loves practical things.... except one year I got her a bread maker.... DOGHOUSE.

She has always liked to make her own bread in her own pans in the oven.
Once in awhile I still get out the bread maker and make some breadmaker bread. I get dagger looks... but I like both!

I like gifts that make my life easier. My kitchenaid is a life saver and if it makes my life better it's a great gift in my eyes. A person can only have so much jewelry anyway. What frustrates me is that I have to tell him what I want. No creativity!! Oh well...at least I get what I want.

LOL, had to show this to hubby....He loved the mustache waxer thing!!! I, too, like practical gifts if I have a choice, but one year hubby BLEW ME AWAY! We were looking through a catalog of stuff, and I was noticing stuff that I thought was cool. I wasn't even thinking about it, but he sure was!!! That year I had the absolute most surprising presents I've ever had in my life, ranging from a wooden Thomas Kinkade (who I LOVE) calendar, a gold/white gold necklace, makeup from the Baked Collection at wal mart, earrings for my 10+ ear piercings, etc....and the most thoughtful out of it all was a new brush. I know, that sounds dumb, but I needed a new brush. I never get stuff like that until the old one falls completely apart, but he noticed and got me a $10 thing that has lasted almost 3 years.....It's the thought that counts, SERIOUSLY!!! I never would have asked for those things, he took notice and got them on his own....Anyways, just my little bit to add....
