I started a thread "Need help with saddled air cell in shipped egg" so if you want history go there. I did get help from some great kids, mainly @MGG ,love that girl. Now I have a special needs chick named a week into incubation, Lucky Number Seven.

As you can see she is at least missing an eye, if not more of her brain.

She is a fighter.
She is up on her feet, but can't stand. Also has a bit of scissor beak. She's ok for now, but will need help to make it. If you want me to cull, please don't answer. This valiant chick deserve better.
Seven of eight says "Resistance is futile" and "I Will Survive"
I may need to help her eat. She can swallow. So what will be the best , mush chick feed or raw egg yolk.
Any encouragement and cheering on is greatly appreciated😇.
@MysteryChicken you are right, she may be fine, any help is welcomed.
@FortCluck you should chime in too.
@nchls school this is what's happening now.
@cooingdove come watch and learn.
@dbtcowgirl we are gona survive and excel in this life.

You’ll have to wait and see just how handicapped this chick is. I’ve hatched a few with defects and some don’t do well and others seem ok but a little ... special... the langshan chick I hatched that was missing both eyes and had a severe underbite as well as cross beak didn’t make it past 24 hours. The duckling with only one normal eye and a depression in his head did fine, a little odd in his movements and reactions but completely able to function. I’m still not sure if he had vision in the other eye or not. I rehomed that one so not sure how he’s going to turn out.

with this one, all you can do is monitor and see how it does. Keep in mind that often if there’s visible defects, internal defects may also very present which only become apparent later on.

there’s nothing wrong with giving it a chance but definitely keep in your mind that if it cannot function adequately and is suffering, that you may need to end that suffering. Believe me, I’m one that tries everything I can before calling it quits when it comes to my animals, but I also have a mindset that if an animal is suffering and there’s nothing I can do to alleviate that suffering, I end it for the animal’s sake. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that and you just have an odd looking handicapped chickie. :D
