Speck of blood in poo?

I noticed a little speck of fresh blood in an otherwise healthy chicken poo last night in the coop under the roost. Upon further inspection, it was the only one. My six girls (8 weeks-ish) are all healthy, eating, drinking, running around, etc. just fine. In fact, I've been holding them (I call it forced cuddling) lately and really looking them over and everyone is strong and healthy as can be. They are shiny and beautiful with bright eyes and bushy tails.

Could it be Coccidiosi? They have all been on medicated chick starter since they were born.

Are there other reasons for this like GI upset or perhaps a big rock passed through?

Or should I medicate them all to be safe?

OH NO!! hurry to the store get corid and put it in their water. But it may be something they ate. Maybe a red seed?? it could also be that one of the chickens is bl;eeding externally and a drop of blood fell into the poop?

Are they on medicated feed or had a shot for coccidiosis? They seem fine. As long as they aren't exhibiting other symptoms, you shouldn't have to worry. Chickens occasionally pass intestinal lining which can look alarming, but is normal. If you see more, then you may want to medicate.

Like Bufforpington said, they do pass intestinal lining that looks like blood. And I usually would have said if they all look and act normal, it's probably fine. But, for a year now, some of my chicks have virtually died overnight from coccidiosis. It hit them that fast. So I would still worry. And treat them.

Medicated feed is great, but it doesn't protect 100%.

Ok, got Corrid tonight and will start treatment in the morning. Thanks!

BTW all seems normal in the henhouse this evening.

I saw some more poo with a little blood in it this morning in the coop under the roost. It was otherwise very healthy (solid, etc.). Chicks are all healthy, eating, etc. However, I did put the Corrid in their water. Hopefully it's not something else!
