Ordered 5 male and 5 female Speckled Sussex from Hoovers. I think the 5 boys look like Reds not Speckled and 4 girls look like Speckled but this 5th bird... Starting to think SHE is a HE. Developing spurs, prominent tail/comb/waddle and started crowing this morning. Am I correct?

Do you have any pictures of this bird?

The bird in the 1st picture is a speckled Sussex cockerel.

In the 2nd picture you have a couple of Sussex pullets.

In the 3rd picture, I see a leg with the beginnings of a spur. Both females and males can get spurs, so it is not an accurate way to sex chickens.

In the 4th picture, I see one speckled Sussex cockerel and three cockerels that are probably Welsummers. They are definitely not Sussex.

Welsummers! I shoulda asked earlier.

Pics are out of order a bit but pic 1&3 are the same bird that is also the odd ball in the sand box with the Welsummers

Makes me wonder if our 'lorps are actually 'lorps.

I figured it was the same bird in pics 1 and 3, but sometimes it's best just to list what you see in each picture to avoid confusion.

The red boys do look like Welsummers to me.

The 'lorps look right.
