I have 4 buff orpingtons which are about 10 months old. I get 3-4 eggs daily so they are very awesome layers! About 3 days a week I get a very pretty brown speckled egg... Is this normal?

Ok thank you! I am posting from my phone and can't figure out how to attach a pic, but I posted a couple pics of the eggs on my profile.

Yes that is very speckled, more so than what I get occasionally. It is just the spray paint the hen puts on the egg. Very pretty and you are fortunate!!!

funny, I got this one too and looks suspiciously like yours... the one on the right is what I have been getting from my other chickens. I have only ONE Buff hen...

Where did you get your Buff from? Maybe some sort of cross breeding. Oh we'll she lays regularly she is sweet and the speckles are pretty!

I know this is old thread but I have a lavender Orpington who has always laid speckled eggs, everyone is that way. She has some feathers on her legs and feet so is she a cross or is this a health issue? They sometimes have a tiny blood spot on yolk and today she laid a “fart egg” . This was first time she has done that. She lays daily and looks healthy.
