speckled egg

I have a 2 yr old SLW that lays brown eggs that occasionally have a few darker brown freckles on them but today layed a brown egg that had a lot of white freckles, some of them slightly 3-D.

Does anyone know what causes this?

I doubt that anyone knows....... just one of the chicken mysteries, I suppose. Chickens are like that.
