speckled eggs

i am wondering if their is a particular chicken that would lay speckled brown eggs? i have a small obsession with adding chickens to my flock to get an assortment of eggs. is that a breed thing or a diet thing?

I have a RSL that lays brown speckled eggs...and one that lays plain brown eggs.

Welsummers lay a dark brown egg with even darker speckles, and our Black Stars lay brown eggs some with speckles and some without.

Really pretty in the basket and carton.

My Jersey Giant lays a brown egg w/ dark brown speckles. I probably get three speckled eggs and then a plain brown egg and then she goes back to laying speckled eggs.
She puts a HUGE layer of bloom on her eggs so you can barely see them till you run them under warm water. They are works of art.

My production red lays eggs with brown speckles on it. But my other production red doesn't, her eggs are just solid brown.

My Welsummers eggs are brown with dark brown speckles, and I have a Cuckoo Maran that lays eggs that are light brown on the round end and dark brown on the pointed end and are speckled some times.
