It's hard to know what the litle chickies uture will be.
Among my 25 hatchery pullets, two of the blk star are boys. One is the tiniest runt, very slow to feather in, too. But he's a tough cookie! He rules the roost and has since he was about 3 weeks old. Overall he is just a smaller size, not short back. Will follow this thread--the "short"back causing lack of organ space does seem to make sense.
