They're gorgeous! I have one SS chick in my fledgling flock. She's only a fuzzy 2.5 weeks old right now. Can't wait to see her feathers. Her name is Poppy.View attachment 1769271
Here are my two Speckled Sussexes in Scotland. They are just over a year now- so beautiful! Very active and friendly too. Both went broody this month and are so far great adoptive mammas.

I love how ‘fat’ and traditional looking they are. A proper hen! Mine are called Clover and Marguerite- Poppy is a super name along the same lines! They're gorgeous! Looking at the pictures the US birds don’t look as uniform in their speckles as my UK birds..

It took a while for them to fatten up- they were really slow to mature actually. Their combs and wattles didn’t mature until a few months ago. Ethel has a fantastic shape- great tail!Your birds are gorgeous, exactly what comes to mind when you picture a speckled hen.
Ethel's speckling is coming along, supposedly it increases as they age. I don't know if she'll ever be a proper fat hen, she's tiny and thin as a wedge. She's dwarfed by my other LF hens, she does have a little Faverolle girl for her size friendship.View attachment 1769358 View attachment 1769359
