Speckled Sussex not laying. Any ideas?

What all and how exactly are you feeding them?

They are getting a starter/grower feed and I give them 6 grain scratch when they are in the yard. Of course water as well.

Well, I'm sure I could decrease the scratch. Gotta admit my kids get a little happy with it.

I figured I'm just being impatient, it's almost as exciting as waiting for your own child to be born (don't tell me wife, lol). Hopefully soon!

Are they laying in some remote corner when they are free ranging? Check under the porch too.

I'm fairly confident they aren't laying in the yard. I'm out with them if they are truly free ranging and I set up a temp fence when I leave them out being unattended so things would be fairly obvious if they left them about. Just yesterday and this morning, I heard what I swear was an egg song, but then no eggs. A very loud/long cluck. Never head it before till yesterday. Maybe another sign?

Here are 2 of them. Red but not super bright. Some days they look darker, some days they dont.

They get redder with exertion then pale out at rest.

Can you tell me why and how much scratch is too much? I have 12 chickens and usually throw out 3 cups in the morning. Thank you!!!
