Speckled Sussex - Questions

Thanks for the replies. I will need to try these out.
We normally just had chickens and never thought to much about it. The chickens were always the easier of the animals on the farm. Growing up we had 50 hens and I guess we never took notice to the egg production.

From what I read Sussex are good production layers so I still am stratching my head why they are not laying.
we will see

Im posting again on this thread. I added light to the pen (comes on at 3am) and changed the feed to Purina layer crumble. I also went out to Jeffers and bought some cakes and suplements. The chickens have been on these items for 3 weeks. Egg production has stopped. Is this something I should just accept? I am affraid I was sold some old hens that are over their prime. The reason I say this I have some three year old australorps and a orpington that are still laying a egg a day.

To who ever has sussex bread, Do they stop laying now? what am I doing wrong and do I just write these off and get rid of them? I can not afford to keep dumping feed to chickens that do not produce anything.

Wormed about 3 months ago.
