Speckled Sussex: Roo or Pullet

Her feathers are more narrow than is typical, but they are rounded at the ends, they don't taper off to a point.

In looking at the pictures most would think rooster. Then again with this breed and the variation of colors of the feathers it is hard to say. I would think the comb and waddles would be much redder and longer if it was a rooster. Also looking online I noticed lots of hens having those same tail feathers which in other breeds would always be seen in roosters. So I am thinking hen as well. I am hoping the one I hatched will be a hen. I attached a picture with my SS chick along with her side kick who is a mix with a standard size Black Star Hen and a bantam Rhode Island Red rooster. Who knew? HA!

My momma birds have all sorts of green in their feathers. I agree about the comb and wattles, they do look feminine to me.
