It looks 3D too, and actually looks like Speckledhens roo! This kind of beadwork can sell for hundreds of dollars too.
It actually is sort of 3-D. I have deliberately crowded the beads in different areas to add depth to it, especially in the main breast area. My goal was to highlight his large chest and show a separation of the hackle areas. I will try to get a picture of it from a level plane and see if i can show it.
As far as what it would sell for...not nearly what it is worth in time..costs wise right now, it is actually pretty reasonable..
6.5 sq ft braintanned hide retails at $15.00 per sq ft (in this case the cost is 0.00 because I killed the deer and my husband tanned it for me), about $ 65.00 in beads and $ 8.00 for a spool of black nymo thread.
Beadworking is not now nor has it ever been an art that you can sell for what you have into it, including your time. It is something you do because you love it not for a profit for sure. I have done fully beaded female traditional regalia for $ 38,000 and I have done it for $12,500...spent literally years doing it...to be honest, the cost of above is charged based on who I am doing it for...if you are a complete nitwit who tells me your grandmother was a Cherokee Princess you pay at least $38,000, if you are a spoiled twit and act as such...you pay $24,000 if you are a genuine and sweet person who wants beautiful ceremonial regalia, you pay for about half my time and materials so you pay around $12,000, if you are loved by me or family, you pay nothing.
Cyn..well heck she is so sweet...she is paying nothing for Suede...it is my gift, a very late xmas gift.
I wanted Suede for month's visitation but Delta and Cyn will not let him fly so a couple Suede babies will do.
