I'm not sure why his saddle and hackle feather's have a brassy look to them but hopefully they will be darker when he molts.He's a real sweet and lovable boy regardless.
 
Almost looks like HE has the chocolate gene!!

He's lovely! Of course he would be since he's Suede's offspring! I'm interested to see what Cyn says about his hackle and saddle feathers being brassy also. I'm always up for a lesson about Orps!

Hmm, I dont know, Marlon. Suede does get brassy in the sun, but not to that extent. He did molt out almost all the brassy feathers, so George should, too, unless it's a different issue.
I had some blue and black Ameraucanas that showed some gold in the wings and hackles and it wasn't sun damage. Their gold base color was showing through, meaning they didn't have enough melanisers to cover the base color. That could be the case with George, though I've never seen one of Suede's with that much gold/brown on them.
 
If it doesn't molt out then it would be interesting to see him crossed with some blacks to see if the gene is passed on.
