Speeding it up (What I have personally found is working for me)

I run Chrome and with AdBlock this is what I did to speed things up.
• 1 - I took out the Right Hand "Recent Reviewed" bar.
• 2 - Took out the "Recent Discussion, Reviews, and Articles" bar at the bottom of the page.
• 3 - Took out the BYC Chicken at the top Left Hand side of the page.
• 4 - Took out the Blue Header Bar at the top of the page.
• 5 - Took out the "Current Viewing" bar at the Right Hand side.
• 6 - Closed out Internet.
• 7 - Ran a Clean Up.
• 8 - Ran a Defrag.
Remember the more of the BYC stuff that you have running the slower you computer is going to run because your processor is running hard to process it all. By eliminating some of the fancy stuff the result is a much faster BYC.

Chris, you're a genius!! I use SW Iron as a browser which is identical to Chrome without the tracking. It has the same extentions as Chrome and I just added those annoying side bars and headers to the ad blocker and it works like a charm! Thank you soooo very much! Not only are you a chicken nutrition genius, you're a computer pro also :)
Edit: Opera has an ad blocker also, I'm on my way to see if that works the same way.

Right there with you. I went a little further though. Basically all I see on this page for example is the tabs at top and wall to wall forum posts.... BTW, you going to do a lesson on how to right click with ad bloc to accomplish all that. I already had a couple people ask me and I just pm'd it, might be better if you write a post here about it though.

That's what I'm seeing also. I did try Opera's adblock and found it way too much of a pain. I know there's a lot of Opera fans out there and I'm as much of a computer geek as the next person but I just never understood the attraction to Opera, not for 15 yrs. Iron/Chrome is the easiest as far as ad blockers. Easier even than Firefox's.

I don't see what the problem is. I'm running an AMD Quad core 2.4 Ghz chip with 8 Gigs of ram, a GFORCE 9600 GSO 512 video card, a Samsung SyncMaster T220 moniter, and IE 9 . The new site is just as fast as the old one it takes less than 1/10 of a second to change from one page to the next. Ad Block works fine.

The problem is most people are not running a computer like that. They're running the computer they bought 3 yrs ago for their kids to do homework on. Mine computer is "half" what yours is yet it's plenty
fast at loading the sight.

Sorry, I guess I'm spoiled and didn't realize it. I built this one about three years ago to play "Battle for Middle Earth" on.

Frustrating is an understatement....lol. But this site is worth the aggravation. Thanks for the suggestions. I updated to IE 8 and changed my BYC preferences. It did help some.

Quote: It's not just the pc's. Many of us only have dial up because we live in rural areas. My service provider is also my phone company. It is also the cable co. They have everything locked up around here.

Your right, I didn't even t6hink about the dialup situation. I've lived a couple of places that had phone service like you mentioned. Poor or worse phone service and not the slightest bit apologetic about either.
You are correct about BYC being worth it though.
