Spending time with ducks

They are sooo funny, my first one would not leave my shoulder, turned out to be the drake, and would follow me around the house. But once the girls came a week later, that romance was over. He still likes to be sung the rubber ducky song, he settles right down. He's just too busy with other things now, y'all know what I mean. Peas, peas, OMG they love peas so much. The time to stroke them and chat. They will jump in my lap for peas, but other than that, they are very suspicious animals, almost like they know what their destiny is. So different than chickens who seem resigned when you pick them up, well, this is it...ducks will fight you.

I’ve surprisingly have my ducks on my lap constantly. I thought that was fairly common. I guess not. I hold my ducks each for 10-30 mins each day on my lap. They even have a spot they love to cuddle up to. But for sure some ducks don’t really like it. Like my duck Saturn she’s reluctant to lay down on my lap...sometimes but she’ll stand on my lap for the most part. Took a bit of time for her to trust me enough to not want to jump off me. Though Juipter is a sweetheart and instantly snuggles up to me and when I move her she goes back to her spot. I know this is late but maybe try holding them on your lap each day and they’ll calm down to it eventually.

Put simply: you can't.

It's not in their nature to be lap ducks; you do read of exceptions on here, but, those are exceptions not the norm. Even my duck who I had to hatch and keep warm in my cleavage isn't a cuddly-wuddly pet; she looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, behaves like a duck because ... she's a duck

My ducks will eat treats out of my hand; they will come over to have a nosey when I'm gardening aka anticipating natures treats for ducks. They tolerate being checked over once a week, which is brief because it stresses them out. If I'm reading a book in my arbour, they will all come and sit around my feet. That's as good as it gets. And I'm very content with that

I have two cats that satisfy the sit-on-lap-for-cuddles requirements.
I wish mine did any of that :( they run and stay as far away as possible at all times
