Sperryville, Va...allows chickens and?

If you are in an agriculture zoned area you have no restrictions for a backyard flock in VA.

We have our main farm here in NC, but also have 112 acres zoned for agriculture in Halifax County, VA

Wow, lucky you, I'm jealous! Wish I had that much land, I'd be in heaven, lol.
What about other 'farm' animals?

We have a family tobacco farm and it's located in Vance County, NC - we have no livestock restrictions at all unless it's for commercial purposes. We have chickens of course, a couple of goats, sheep, ducks, dogs and cats.

30 acres of the VA land is leased to a cattle owner for pasture. Most of the rest is still woods. I know that he has no restrictions. From what I have learned on "Agriculture" land it's property taxes are a little lower and then you just have to follow USDA guidelines as far as what you grow or raise commercially. We got lucky and found the land pretty much dirt cheap.
