So my Friday morning started out like most, except that your Friday is MY Monday. I'm starting a seven day stretch of 12 hour shifts today, so I'm dragging the hind end a bit ok? I failed to pack my lunch ahead of time last night, so I decided that I was going to grab four eggs out of the fridge and boil them at work for breakfast. At NO point in time did I think "You can't boil eggs in the microwave," even though we had just saw a video posted here on BYC the other day. And if the thought DID cross my mind, it was quickly replaced with, "Well they wont explode if they are in a bowl of water."
So I get to work, ON TIME by some good grace, and start my shift. Approximately 15 minutes in, I decide its time for breakfast. So I grab the oversized ceramic soup bowl, get the water good a boiling in the microwave, and once its boiling take it out and insert 4 VERY LARGE brown eggs. Close the door, and set it for 12 minutes. Dont know why 12, but I always boil my eggs for 12 minutes exactly. Thats how my mother did, sue me!
Well all was trucking along until about the 3 minute mark, and this happened....
... Now this little trick can rival the magic of David Copperfield I'm quite certain. Of the 4 VERY LARGE brown eggs that were in there, I was only able to find a few pieces of shell, and a few clumps of yolk. The door was BLOWN OPEN on the microwave, and egg particle spewed onto the wall adjacent to the counter.
The only thing that I can say for sure is that (A) I'm glad there wasn't an officer in dispatch with me, because I would have been shot, and (B) I'm glad I wasn't on the radio when it happened otherwise the fire department would have sent the bomb squad out!
So heed my warning, eggs CANNOT be boiled in the microwave!
