I have 2 bantam EE hens and a b. EE roo separated for breeding. There is no grass in their pen so I have been cutting them off spinach everyday. My question is, is spinach an ok substitute for grass or do they need more than that?

Thanks

I think mine would live on swiss chard if I'd let them! I can't imagine spinich is much different, but what are you looking to get from giving them grass or spinich?

They can live without it but they're happier with it, true. And the greens make the egg yolks a nice dark orange vs the anemic yellow from grocery store hens. Yep, spinich will do the same things.
