Spinning and irony?

So we just visited the allegan fiber fest where I had hoped to buy my dream spinning wheel:

Unfortunately none of the vendors had one and later that evening I twisted my ankle. Now it's completely swollen and I cant spin. 😌
Oh no that doesn’t sound like much fun, hope your ankle gets better soon! And you find your dream spinning wheel!

I really like kromski spinning wheels, I have one an old prelude

I dont like the single treadles because they hurt my knees so I know I need a double. I also want that old look. So far this morning I'm feeling a little better but I know I gotta baby it a little longer so it heals properly. Just RICE and range of motion exercises right now. They had a kromski at the fest but it wasn't the one I linked to. I suppose I could have talked to the vendor but this was my first one and I felt ackward about it. But I did buy some alpaca fiber and this little guy:

I have an old Louet (single treadle) and really need to get it out and start spinning again!
Ive been taking classes to learn how. No one in my family has ever done it but I figure its an valuable skill to have. I dont plan on doing any art yarns but Id love to spin my own yarn and in the future we plan to raise our own fiber. It's really quite relaxing to spin especially wuth the double treadle. Ive found that as long as your seat is comfortable its not so bad on your back but the single treadle hurts my knee after a good 15 minutes of spinning

Oh, yeah, on the relaxing part! (Once you get past the angst of learning, ha ha!)

Yes, get a good chair and use good posture.

As I recall, Corriedale wool was very easy to spin. The staple length was long enough, but not too long, and the fiber wasn't too slippery. Also, roving is easier to spin than combed top, so if you can, buy roving.

I also HIGHLY recommend the book, Spinning for Softness and Speed, by Paula Simmons.

I believe my teacher has me spinning corriedale but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask her. She pretty much just has a big ole box of roving that I use out of. I bought prewashed and carded alpaca to try when I get my wheel. Its not a bag of roving just a bundle. I can pull it into roving though. It seems more cost effective to buy it that way but as I said I'm pretty new to all this.

I'm happy to say that I can walk again! Well, kinda. I still limp occassionally and my ankle is slowly losing the swelling. It used to look like a softball but this morning more like a tennis ball and now the swelling is mostly on one side. I'm hoping to spin again on friday so I can talk to my teacher about the fest and see what she thinks about the kromski symphony.
