Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

I am so happy to hear that Spirit is feeling better! Thank goodness that he has you to love and care for him. This has been the best news i have heard in a long time. Please give him a hug from me and oliver!

Gosh. Just finished reading this thread and man, the twists and turns! I wasn't sure how it was going to end! I'm so glad that things are starting to look up. That whole shoe/boot idea seems like a pretty good idea at this point, with all the surgeries endured.
Do you still plan to breed him and raise his offspring? Aren't you concerned about him passing on this gene even if it isn't apparent in F1? Or do you think it was because his egg was scrambled and maybe messed with the embryo and its development/placement within the egg?
I feel like I've gotten to know some of you so well reading this thread. I look forward to seeing you all around the boards :bun

Spirit is holding steady since last visit. I think there is room for more improvement and I'd like Scott to see him for a follow up, but not sure when I can get that scheduled. In the meantime, he is probably happy that he is not being handled and poked regularly by hubby and me, although he still enjoys my visiting him. I am targeting to move him back outside during days in the next couple weeks, weather permitting.

subhanalah, impressive that you read the whole thread. It must have been quite the long story. Thanks for the compliments!! FYI, I will not breed him. But since he and his girlfriend are excellent foster parents, I give them babies from my other dewlaps to raise.

Thanks for updating J, I'm thinking he'll enjoy being outside again.

Thanks, ladies. :) Spring has shown up super early here and I have big plans this week to get his yard cleaned up and freshly seeded, and hope that within a few weeks it will be ready for him.

That's great news J, we're still the the grip of winter with snow and ice. be sure to keep us updated on him and pics when you can.

Thanks for keeping up with Spirit's progress. He has been holding steady for a few weeks now, so nothing new to report. Here he is this morning, comfortably laying next to his water bowl.
