@SueT , we live in a “rural lite” area - we have a few acres of property but the plots and more long than wide, so our neighbors houses are not that far away. my husband is definitely anti-rooster; i have fewer negative thoughts about them, but i will say that when i got my six easter eggers as adults a few years back, they had bald backs from their rooster, who i didn’t take, jumping on them all the time, and i like them much better fully feathered! in the interest of maintain good relationships with our neighbors, i’d likely not keep a rooster for long - i’ve just grown so fond of my little mystery chickens with their doodlebop heads!
i got all six chicks on march 10th, and i have no idea how old they were when i got them, but i’m assuming no older than 5-7 days, so that puts them at approximately 6 weeks old. their faces, i have noticed, are getting a little more “flushed”, but i haven’t seen wattles emerge yet.
