On your reason 2...why not wait and let the breed come to you? It's best not to force a breed. Some of them are really pretty but don't have the personality you're after...some are too dumb...take into consideration space, feed, etc. What time constraints do you have? Do you have a breed you are pining for? I've learned it's better to wait for something you really want than to try everything and become discouraged because your heart isn't in it.

One more thought about BLRWs, and Wyandottes in general: they're really big birds, the LF versions. There are banties, they are expensive to buy as started birds, but I hear Silkies are talented broodies: maybe you should buy some eggs to incubate naturally or mechanically, if that's your preference.

I have BLRWs, mostly splash ones, and $10 is the least I've paid for started birds, so he doesn't seem at all expensive to me.

In my opinion 10 bucks for a roo is a little too high UNLESS he was older that is. It's WAY to young to even know what he will look like when he's older. Like stated above I would save your money and order from the source if that's the line you want

Do you know how old he is? I just brought home a splash and a black "blr"... Not sure if the splash is a roo as it's only about 8weeks old. I think you should get him... $10 seems very reasonable.

Mpost good breeds will not sell chicks and say they are show quality they sell adults thats good and bad because breeders Will NEVER sell there best birds so most breeders wont sell chicks asd you dont no if they will be duds or just AMZAZING so Buy adults and get them shiped not chicks.

I think that he is worth it. I seen people in my area selling on craigslist day(s) old St.Run BLRW for $8 a chick.

I just spent about the same price on mine but mine are better looking than that bird at a few weeks older. One was a cull. It has an incorrect comb. The breeder was quick to point that out. He said he wouldn't keep it around for his own lines. I think mine have very nice quality, but I am new to the breed. I don't know if he would ship you birds or not but he does ship eggs
