Splash/ Blue Silkie Thread

Yeah it's my dumb camera. The bottom pic of Grayson is more accurate to his coloring. he gets new splashes every day.

Thank you. He crowed today for the first time. It was horrible and screechy, but I was so proud of him. I am very sure he is splash. He is just a slow bloomer.

I'm still unclear on how to tell splash from blue chicks. I mean, so blues are dark - almost black, so that's obviously not a splash, but if they have some white on them does that mean they are splash? Are the lighter ones in the pictures below splash?

Sometimes, splash look blue and blue look black. I've seen dark, dark blue chicks turn white.

If you're very unsure, you'll have to wait until their down disappears and feathers show up. Your chicks look blue and black to me. My splash are always white with a grey/blue cast, but different lines have different quirks. I have a really hard time figuring out my blues and blacks at first, and they usually both have white/cream patches on the heads, faces or chests, but they're obviously not splash, for me.

My guess would be 2 light blue 3 dark blue/black. With my flock my splashes are born almost whitish and develop spots later, I have never had a blue turn splash.

For reference here is Grayson as a new chick and now. He had lighter feet and beak like a white, not dark like the blues.
