I love my splash chickens and started messing around with breeding to get splash with a few different breeds. I’ve also have been messing around with making neat paints . I usually stick with my Cochins and silkies but let a few more run with them in the breeding pen. I’ve gotten all great results but I have some hens that have more of a consistent rounded “splash” and they are almost white. They not a Cochin for sure and the ones that do have this splash all have a taller more narrow frame. Could i have some help with this one!? Any specific breed that would resemble splash in this pattern?

What roos do you have and what hens do you have in the breeding pen?
My Roos would have been a blue jersey giant, blue cochin, and a blue silkie. This hatch I grabbed what I thought were my blue copper Marans, blue Cochins, a blue with red leghorn and a pearl so she throws white and with this combo I get paints. I do have a rooster that is white and the offspring of the pearls that is a huge nuisance and sneaks his way into the coop. I will attach a pic of my paints. They have almost identical spots and body shapes. The second picture I have attached is my blue/splash Cochin hens x blue jersey giants. Her head has paint spots but you can see her blue splash coming in?

You can also see on this picture I took today she has flecks coming in strong. You can also see them on the paints.

She has lightly feathered legs so I'm thinking blue jersey giant is the daddy and blue marans is the momma, there would be more feathers on the legs of it was a cochin (different body type as well) She is definitely splash, and will probably be a big girl🥰

I would have to agree! When comparing and overthinking you have to have a second opinion for sure! I appreciate it! 😉

You're welcome! I have a WTB that is dominant white (she looks splash) but any chicks that come from her look like your paints. I'm pretty sure your smokey pearl is the one carrying dominant white. I'm no expert, but that is my opinion.

Yes and I have a few white Cochins that are dominant white too (just found out) Im so happy there’s a significant difference in the two because I never suspected the Cochins were.
