Splash?

People breed for splash, but I think they're mainly around as a by-product of breeding blues. I don't think you can usually show splash birds, most breeds just have the blue color approved for showing (I think). As blisschick said, they have two "blue" feather genes, so breeding a splash with a black bird will give you all blues, but breeding blues with blues will give you some splash and black as well as blue.

I'm not sure, but I think if you breed a splash with any other color you'll get blue. I have breed my splash rooster (pictured below) to a mille fleur d'uccle hen, BTW japanese hen, buff cochin hen and a buff columbian japanese/cochin mix hen and had 100% blue chicks every time.
