Splayed leg remmedy?

Any ideas on splayed legs? I have a chick who is currently doing the splits and is only a couple hours old.

We had one recently and I read online about tying its legs together (google it....there were lots of photos of how to do it). It seemed to work and we only did it for a few days. Also, I think one of the important things is to make sure you don't have them on a slippery surface like newspaper. We used towels for the first week or so.
