I have a leghorn x Rhode Island Red with perhaps something else crossed in there who suddenly can’t walk properly. I’ve brought her inside since last Saturday and she still has a healthy appetite and is drinking well. Her legs seem to be unable to take her weight very well when she tries to stand. It’s as if they are splayed out to each side of her body. I thought she may have eaten something toxic but after a week she doesn’t seem to be improving. Does anyone have any clue as to what it could be and if she might get better?

We had a leghorn that displayed similar symptoms at Christmas time but she is back to full health now after we cared for her inside for a week. Can they do that with mareks? Also that leghorn is now 23 weeks old and no eggs. If it’s mareks I’m worried about my Silkie hen because they tend to catch it quite badly don’t they?
