I have a gosling that hatched yesterday and it can't stand due to spraddle legs. I know how to fix a chick, but what do you do with goslings?? Bandaids with chicks work wonders, but this little guy is too big for that???

What about a splint with popsicle sticks and gauze. You have to cut the sticks to the right length, but it would stabilize them until they were stronger. Wrap the sticks in gauze, then use the gauze to wrap around the leg. Sorry I dont have pic but you get the idea. Hope that helps.

I might try the same thing as you would do with a chick. Maybe use 3/4 of the width of the bandaid, and try to get the legs as close to normal space across. I used to do therapy with my chick, I'd move him away from the others in the brooder, and he would have to work on getting back to them. He ended up being quite a fatty.

Right now I have used Coban to hold his legs together, it sticks to itself, but not to the little fluff on his legs. Thanks for the advice. I will put it to good use! I'll let u know how he does.

Many thanks to this thread. One of our mid sized goslings at our sanctuary did the leg thing and I was quite perplexed. Living in the woods couldn't just run to the corner drug store. Found some Velcro strips in my sewing basket, the kind were it's two strips that stick together. Worked like a charm (and easy to clean, adjust) and in one day our little miss was up and walking. Not sure how long to leave it on so going for a week to be safe.

I read this forum when I have an omg moment or general research but have never registered/posted. Wanted to share my sewing box ah ha moment. Necessity is the mother of invention eh?

Many thanks,
Eva
