hey there, I saw my name pop up so i though that i would pop in and let you know whats going on with my bators. I now have a name "Biblis Incubators" for obvious reasons. i have a embedded logo on the front door now.
i tried the thermostat conversion of the velleman thermo and was very unimpressed so i spent the last month learning basic electronics. I have designed and built several incubator specific thermostats that i plan on bringing to the swap in ga next weekend. My thermos are ran off of 120v and will switch any voltage you throw at it. It is rated up to 10amp @ 240v, 15a @ 120, 25a @ 12v. User friendly for every application and it will hold temp to within 3/10's of a degree. I found a supplier for a 200 watt heater with fan incorperated that is going to be great for the cabinets. I am building the egg turner with a gear motor that will run at 75milliamps. And finally, i am building my bators out of hardwood only simple because it is not that much more expensive with my local connections. it will last forever instead of a few years. My base model now will be out of walnut.
To sum it up the bater will be super cool looking, energy star rated, last forever and to top it all off i will be offering them in kits to save on shipping. I am building a web site as i type, that will not only sell the cabnets but offer every part on the bator for replacement parts.
If your able to come see my new bator i will be demonstrating it at the swap this weekend. i will have a few thermos on hand for thoughts interested in an electronic thermo for there home made projects.
And lastly i will of coarse, be happy to share what knowledge that i have a learned from trial and error during this whole process.
