Spot below cloaca on a chick

I have 1 day old chicks and there is a spot on one of them below the cloaca. It looks a little red. What is this? Is it normal? What should I do? I am very new to raising chicks and I am worried sick already.

I think what you're describing is their "belly button". If you look in that same spot on the other chicks, you should see one on them too. Just leave it alone, it'll dry up and fall off. Try to enjoy the little fuzzy butts and don't worry too much!
