Spot on check-F ringneck dove

Hello! My son has 2 ringneck doves. They’re roughly 2 years old. One has a strange spot on her check where she has lost feathers. I can’t see any skin underneath, though. It looks like a hole. We researched dove care before getting them-but these are our first birds, and I’m still pretty clueless. Unfortunately, the one vet in our area who accepted birds when we got them has recently stopped providing care for birds. I’m trying to find someone new, but in the meantime I thought I’d post here to see if this is something normal that I’m just unaware of, or if I should be concerned. Any ideas?
