Spot on chicks foot, others attacking it

We are new to chicks, just got 10 Delaware's about 4 weeks old. One has a spot on her foot the others attack and made worse. We tried blu cote, didnt' work at all. We tried pine tar, it stopped some of the attacking but two still go after her. We've seperated them again. The two attackers are in Keep Lock (sorry, I work in a prison), they are in a seperated area in the coop. We left the injured one with the rest but after an hour or so the others started attacking her again, so we brought her in the medical unit(there I go again), brought her inside in her own box. She doesn't like being alone.
This pecking started a week ago and we've had her in to heal before bringing her back out to the coop.
Not sure if the red mark will ever go away or if she will ever be able to room with others.

Sounds like you are doing what you have to. Is there a submissive, "nice" chick you could put in with the injured one for company?

Is it possible they have leg mites, and this is preventing healing? The treatment is simple, coat the legs in something like Vaseline every day for a while. You could do a search and read up on leg mites.

It doesn't look like mites. It just looks like, as I would say to my kids, a boo boo. We will get a passive one to keep her company. How long does a "boo boo" take to heal in a chick's foot?

Chickens heal very quickly. I had one with some blood on a foot one morning, and noticed it because several others were pecking the spot. It was not a large spot, but had bright fresh blood on it. I put a little Neosporin on it and separated him. I couldn't even find the spot that evening, and put him back with the flock, and he was fine.

I am wondering if your chicken has some internal problem causing these lesions. I just have no idea. There was a thread on here not long ago about a chicken with recurring leg lesions. The pics looked like blood trapped just under the skin. I don't think they ever figured out what the cause was.

Maybe someone else will come along.
