spraddle leg bandaid fix is not working

Duck was just born and its legs just go out either side of it. It scoots on its belly right now. I am hoping since its less than a day old this if fixable. i found pictoral instructions to fix this. the poor thing just falls on its face now. am i doing it wrong. i used the 3/4 bandage cut in half. its a pekin duck. roughly 12 hours old.

update: It had the bandaid on all night. somehow now it only wants to hold its legs behind it. The only way I can get it to sit or stand with its legs right is to hold it and it fights against that. I would say its worse today than in was before I tried the bandaid between the legs. Any other suggestions. At the rate we are going this duckling may have to be put down.
