My 9-week old jubilee orpington has had a slight limp for 2 days.

I examined her foot (couldn’t get pics as she was not happy about it) and there’s no swelling, discoloration. Doesn’t appear to be bumblefoot. She’s still the ringleader, still runs, free ranges, eats and drinks normally…just with a hitch in her giddyup. Sprain maybe? Wait and see? How long?

Note: Both my orpington chicks have a bigger footpad than my Easter eggers, is that normal?

One of the pics totally looks like bumblefoot but in actuality both pads are the same size.

Jubilee in front, buff orp on the right.

What's the dark spot on the leg?
Photos of the bottom of the foot may be helpful too.

What is the surface the birds are on? Looks uncomfortable for them and like a good place to get legs/feet/toes trapped, hung up, etc.

The spots are dark feathers 😂

it’s the Eglu cube. They roost here at night and seem to love it. I also have a run and free range all day.

Do you provide them with a roosting bar?
No, the way the Eglu is set up, these are the roost bars. It’s raised off the ground. You can look it up on their website. I actually think she may have gotten a sprain from jumping down to the ground instead of using the ladder.

Oh, I see, good to know LOL You said Jubilee Orpington, so I was not expecting any feathering on the legs...

At 9 weeks that's quite a comb and wattles, get some photos of them in daylight so we can take a better look.

Now I see what you are saying about the floor of the coop. Designed for easy cleanup looks like - spaces sure would be easy for youngsters to get feet/legs hung in there though. Likely the cause of limping, but jumping about may be the issue as well.
