Sprained toe?

The rooster that I brought inside (the one caught in the fly trap) has a swollen toe on his left foot. It's a nice big knot and the whole foot is much hotter than the other so I suspect it's running a little fever. Do I just treat this the same way I would a sprain of my own?

Please let me know if there are any hpt tips here that I should be aware of. Thanks!

It sounds to me more like infection than sprain. Do a search here for bumblefoot.
