We have about 5 acres of land that we need to seed . My husband has it in his head that he'll just do it by hand . My thinking is that doing it by hand you're going to waste a lot of seed b, over seeding certain spots and under seeding others . I think we should get a seed spreader . Am I just totally wrong here or is it worth getting the spreader?

Now here is the next question if using a spreader is worth while . Our property isn't perfectly smooth , a little bumpy . What's the best type to use , handheld or push type ?

One time I had to do that without a seed spreader. I sat on the back of the pickup truck with the tailgate down and a bag of pasture seed.
My Mother drove really slow across the fields and I threw it out. It worked.

If you have a riding mower, get a pull behind drop spreader, and mix the seed with pelletized lime.

That way you will get it spread evenly without a lot of effort

5 acres is too much to try and do by hand, and still hope to get good results

You can usually find these on Craig's List for around $100
