Spreading Sickness

Have you noticed any more bloody poop since you started Corid?

I am going to bet that your problem started with it being too hot for too long.

If the chicks are sick...they may suffer from hypothermia even in warm temps. If they have the choice between 70 and 90...and they're choosing to lay where the temp is 90...I would leave the setup alone. It's good that you have a range of temps for them.

What dosage are you treating with the corid? Is it the maximum dose?

I have been treating the sick chicks for coccidiosis. They have been lethargic with closed eyes for about three weeks now and just noticed bloody stool Sunday night. I have been treating them with Corid since Monday morning but haven't noticed any improvement.
It's just been the closed eyes and being lethargic this whole time until Sunday night when I noticed the poop. They seem to be growing still and eat and drink normally. One tends to sneeze quite a bit but that's all I've noticed.
They are almost 7 weeks.

Can you post some photos of the poop?
What dosage of Corid are you using?
Have you noticed any discharge from the nostrils? Sneezing quite a bit - I also tend to agree with @KikisGirls in the photos both birds do look like they have some swelling around the eyes.

Since you have started the Corid treatment, have you see any more bloody stools? Do the birds have an odor about them (their poop or themselves)?

Taking heat completely away from them would be a bad idea. Sick birds need to be kept warm. Ideally try raising the lamp to get a temp around 75-80 and see how they do.

Thank you everybody for the advice!! I am keeping them in the house as it's too hot outside right now, but have removed heat lamp.
They are still having bloody stools and seem the same. There is no discharge from eyes or nose.
I am was giving them the .012% solution for the first three days and boosted it to .024% yesterday

It's best to start with the "outbreak dosage". Corid is mild so won't hurt even if their troubles is not due to Cocci. Make sure the Corid water is the only source of water available and nothing else is added to the water for the 5-7day period. Encourage drinking if you can - chicks get dehydrated quickly.

The severe outbreak dose (.024%) for Corid Powder is 1.5 teaspoons
The severe outbreak dose (.024%) for Corid liquid is 2 teaspoon.

X 2! I was wondering how your chicks were making out. I almost posted late last night...but thought better of it...lol (email alerts)

I'm glad you've got them on the .024% dose already. Following the advice Wyorp Rock posted is key so they get the full Corid dose continually for the amount of time posted. Hopefully you'll see a positive change soon. :fl

You know you can turn off the email alerts right?
