Spring 2011 Little Rhody!!!

Who did you talk to? I called and got an answering machine. I don't know if they got my entry, and don't want to drive 3 hours for nothing! I'm a bit worried about this!

My daughter won Best of Breed & Best Featherleg with her splash silkie pullet!! It was her first time showing!

Sorry we missed everyone... Going to try to get to the NE Bantam show.

Thank you! We are going to that show. Did you sign up for this one? There was an empty cage for a buff cockeral right next to ours...was that your daughters?

We had a great time, despite the confusion of our first ever show and the long drive.

We got reserve in Continental Class (Large Fowl) with our Barnevelder pullet.
And my daughter, 10, won a best in breed with her pullet.

Things I learned:
1) NO ONE checked for pullorum certificates or leg bands. (This bothers me quite a bit...) Waiting for our certificate is what made us a late entry and we nearly missed the show
2) Be prepared for a LOT of sitting around..... rush to get to a show at 9 AM and sit until awards at 3 PM!
4) Modern Games are very cool looking birds!!
5) Everyone (including and especially the judges) was WAY nicer and more helpful than at dog shows!
6) There are WAY more bantams than LF at the shows.... I don't know why this was surprising, but it was to me.

Thanks to everyone there, we had a great time and hope to do more showing!

Little Rhody was my first chicken show also!!! But last year.

Pam, it was nice to meet you and im glad your daughter did so well!!!

I thought it was weird that that little tiny baby won champion of the youth show... I feel there should be a rule that says the child must be old enough to handle and show their bird.
